Why the PeopleMover?
The Peoplemover adds much needed life to Tomorrowland. It brings motion and activity to the land of the future. Currently, Tomorrowland is lacking in energy that the Peoplemover once brought; with an unused track overhead the land feels stagnant.
The Peoplemover was a family friendly attraction and at moderate speeds everyone could ride it. It was a leisurely ride over Tomorrowland offering views that could not be experienced elsewhere in the park. As they passed the monorail station, autopia, and submarine lagoon, they offered a perfect compliment to the multiple forms of transportation in Tomorrowland.
During the busy seasons Tomorrowland, like the rest of Disneyland, can get packed. The Peoplemover was able to absorb close to 5,000 people each and every hour - it could hold over 1,000 people at any one time. Bringing back the Peoplemover would help relieve crowding around Tomorrowland and around the park.
The Peoplemover would once again breathe new life into Tomorrowland. And that is why we ask that Disneyland please bring back the Peoplemover.
Peoplemover Route
Below is a route map of the Peoplemover, the neon green line is the track. While most of it is accurate a few places such as in show buildings, etc. are educated guesses based on available info. Either way this gives a good idea of where exactly the Peoplemover ran - covering ground from the center of Tomorrowland to the edges of Fantasyland the track spans a good portion of the east side of the park.
The Tour took you through the following rides:
- Adventure Thru Inner Space / Star Tours
- Star Trader
- StarCade
- Space Mountain
- Carousel of Progress [today Innoventions]
- SuperSpeed Tunnel / "The World of TRON"
- CircleVision [the pre-show area, today Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters]
Plus you went over the Submarine Lagoon, Autopia, and twisted around the Monorail tracks.
